The Scott VanCoevern Tournament - June 22-23, 2024

Scott VanCoevern began playing baseball for GMJBA when he was 14 years old and continued his love of the game through his sophomore year at Green Mountain High School. Scott’s favorite positions were 3rd base and shortstop and played for the love of the game.  Scott was embedded in our community, from umpire for local games, and worked on field maintenance for Green Mountain Junior Baseball. Scotts lively spirit and contagious smile were an inspiration to all of his friends. Scott was a great role model for GM players, students and the community.

This Tournament allows his family and friends to continue to remember what an amazing person Scott was and how much he meant to our Green Mountain Community and Family.  Our Goal is to create a tournament experience that is top notch. Volunteers take the weekend to care for the fields, sell concessions, keep score and announce games.

In the spring of 1997, GMJBA dedicated their annual “Green Mountain Days” in memory of Scott.  The following year, in the month of March, GMJBA hosted its first annual Scott VanCoevern Memorial Tournament – and while Colorado weather hasn’t always cooperated, it has been a GM community event that all of us look forward to for decades.  Teams of all levels, ages 8-14, including hundreds of players and families travel from many other states to compete.  The tournament has been a staple to our fundraising efforts for GMJBA, now partnered with USSSA: https://cobaseball.usssa.com/event/under-armour-state-tune-up-1/

Thank you all for participating in a tournament that means so much to the Green Mountain Community and continue to celebrate Scott’s memory.
